J. Michael Hannon to Receive Distinguished Alumnus Award

FOUNDING PARTNER J. MICHAEL HANNON TO RECEIVE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD FROM THE COLUMBUS SCHOOL OF LAW OF THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA

The Columbus School of Law of the Catholic University of America will honor J. Michael Hannon as one of its 2020 Distinguished Alumni on October 2, 2020, at the Law School’s Reunion Weekend.

The Distinguished Alumni Award honors an alumnus who has led an extraordinary career since law school graduation, showing dedication and commitment to the betterment of the legal profession and reflecting the importance of a Columbus Law School education.

Mr. Hannon graduated from the evening division of the Law School in 1980. His father the Honorable Joseph M. Hannon, Associate Judge of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia, also graduated from the Columbus School of Law. Mr. Hannon’s brother, Brian W. Hannon, graduated from the Law School as well and is a partner with the intellectual property firm of Shugrue Mion.

In 1989, Judge Hannon received the Catholic University’s Alumni Achievement Award for Law.

Following law school, Mr. Hannon was a fixture and leader in the CUA Law School Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1981 to 1988. On March 17, 2006, he founded HANNON LAW GROUP. Since 2006, HANNON LAW GROUP has hired and trained over three dozen graduates from the Columbus School of Law. Today, HANNON LAW GROUP boasts a staff of seven CUA graduates.

Mr. Hannon was selected in 2016 to the CUA Law School Board of Visitors, and is honored to assist the Dean in that position today.
