Police officers need more mental health outlets

The Washington Times reports that Police Officers are increasingly falling victim to the ravages of hopelessness while facing increased scrutiny from the community-at-large. This adds to the traditional job stresses such as the horror of crime scenes, long (and late) working hours, and administrative burdens (e.g. mandatory overtime, department policies).

Officers, like other people, require coping strategies and mental health outlets to remain fit for duty. Flak jackets and removing the stigma of mental health treatment are critical to keeping our officers safe on duty and at home.
